This is a rare lithograph from 1820 printers Walter & Cohn handcolored by Henry Constantine Richter and Joseph Wolf. This one depicts Autumn plumage – Lagopus Mutus. The lithograph is in superior shape given its age having been protected so many years behind glass. I note some light spotting on the paper in the margins – nothing in the image area. Also note the print shows some waves along top edge as photo shows. Double matted with the outside matte of woven linen it measures 29 1/2 inches wide by 23 inches tall. The wooden frame either has holes in it for effect but I think they are most likely some sort of insect damage over the years. Backing should be replaced as it is quite worn as the photos show. This is one of three prints I have on Ebay from a local estate where most of the items were purchased in the 1950s from Sotheby’s in NYC.
