This is not your typical Perko lantern that you see – this one is very large and I’m not an expert but I’m assuming it would have been used on a pretty large ship. It’s all original – and has been untouched for over 50 years sitting in an estate home in its attic. Very dusty and can use a cleaning. It is 20 inches tall top to bottom not counting the handle. The lens is clear but has a lot of dust and grime in its ridges and measures 7 1/2 inches tall by 29inches in circumference. Everything looks to be original.
There are some dents in the bronze along the top edges you can see most in the photos. There are some dents along the very top rim when you open the top lid. There are some very small nicks and chips in some of the outer glass ridges but no cracks. Both the smaller handles on the bottom are tight and secure as are the same at the top. Weighs about 16 pounds. The patina is original and it has not been cleaned or polished. Has a whiff of kerosene odor.
This is a rare find – so large and in its original condition. I’m not sure when it was made but my general idea is perhaps 1920-1930s. Feel free to educate I’m always learning.
